The Commission on Human Rights has taken custody of Jake Javier,
whom police consider is one of the suspects of the RCBC bank
robbery-massacre case.
It was Jake’s mother, Olivia Javier, who
sought the help of the rights commission, claiming her son’s life
is in grave danger.
Olivia said her son is also considered by the
Police as one of the suspects in the said crime. She maintained that
her son and late husband are both innocent. But the younger Javier
fears that he will suffer the fate of his father, who was one of
those killed by police in an alleged rubout.
The rights commission accepted the younger
Javier and was asked to sign an agreement, which stipulates the
agency will only provide shelter for him, while his other basic
necessities like food, medicine and vitamins will be provided by his
family.
The agreement also said that the younger Javier
will surrender if ever a court will issue a warrant of arrest
against him.
De Lima also ordered the rights commission’s
Quick Reaction Team to go to the Fort Bonifacio General Hospital to
check the situation of Rose Ann Gumanoy and her
younger sister, Fatima, who are currently confined at the hospital
located in Taguig City.
The action of the rights body is in response to
a letter from Aling Maria, the mother of the two ladies, who are
also the daughters of the late Eddie Gumanoy, an alleged victim of
political killing in April 2003.
Aling Maria is requesting the rights commission
to help her discharge her children from the said hospital and
transfer them to another hospital, and that the police take custody
of them.
