DINO DAA fired 26 points to lead the Letran Knights past the San
Sebastian Stags, 71-67, Wednesday in the 84th NCAA basketball
tournament at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Daa was at his best in the final half, pouring
in 15 points as the Knights extended their undefeated start to four
games.
“I never expected a 4-0 start. This is the
result of the hard work of my players,” said Letran coach Loiue
Alas.
The Stags went to a zone defense in the fourth
period to trim a 10-point deficit to only two, 56-58, 6:05 left.
But Carlo Jazul and Alvyn Cabonce hit
back-to-back baskets to restore order for the Knights.
The Stags dropped to 1-4 card.
Cabonce added 14 while Jazul finished with 11
for the Knights. Jimbo Aquino led the Stags with 13 points.
