YOUTHOPIA
By Marylaine Louise Viernes
Read the anagrams

Great philosophers such as Pythagoras and Plato used anagrams to discover philosophical meanings and reveal destiny. Also, I stumbled upon an interesting bit about Alexander the Great. He dreamed that he had caught a “satyr” the night before the siege of Tyre. A seer, Aristander, said it was a good omen for the Greek word for “satyr” anagrammed to “Tyre is yours.” True enough, the city fell the next day.

Other people can portend more earthquakes in the next few days, but I can pretend to see more storms devastating our country in the following terms, leaving us with nothing but casualties and debts. Allow me to exhibit my ability to see the truth from anagrams:

“I rule! Joy goes roam!” This is an anagram of JOSE MIGUEL ARROYO. He truly lives up to his name! He gets to roam the world joyfully and even if he isn’t the president, he rules!

“Sole Eye Rang” can be formed from ANGELO REYES. Indeed, the Department of Energy seems to have only one eye –and a blind one– since it doesn’t seem to sense how the high price of energy drains the people’s energy! How many shouts do we have to address before our hardships could be reciprocated?

“I nod on a lead role.” These have been arranged from the letters, LEONARDO LEONIDA, the name of the newly elected Comelec chairman who will surely rise to stardom on 2010. But will his nods come from citizens voting for hope and justice, or only from a few people who will determine how high his “professional fee” will be?

“C, I rig or villain!” This also forms surprisingly, VIRGILIO GARCILLANO! You C, if he had not put a rig in the electoral vessel, it cannot stay afloat. So better rig it rather than become the villain in the eyes of the Captain.

“Lo! Joy Bent Clean!” Another unexpected line formed from JOCELYN BOLANTE, who brought joy to the people who have been bent over with working on the fields. He has made the job easier for them by cleaning out their fields, ponds and funds! What a joy! But the even greater joy is how he manages to be free!

“O! Glory! I am a goal par car!” I honestly did not rig this, but look how it can turn into—GLORIA MACAPAL ARROYO. Wow! Maybe it’s trying to say that our dear President likes to score par in golf courses, and likes riding golf cars. That is her only goal whenever she goes abroad for a good cup of tee! Nothing wrong with that!

“O, gaze! All runs!” I think that this suggests that just by looking at him, you already want to run away! Consider it suicide if you have to listen to his words of wis-dumb. I don’t know what words to extract from this for all that comes out is RAUL GONZALES.

“I rule, Moron!” this one is my favorite anagram for it is the timeliest. And it clearly tells of the victory of ROMULO NERI! This is the battle cry of our new SSS president. See what he has made of himself? This is a reward from heaven because he knows how to moderate his greed. May this be a lesson to all the Morons out there.

“Me, I’ll save U!”—This is the only form of rescue that I’ve seen of the Sulpicio Lines tragedy. And it came from a man named LEVI SAMUEL, who had to climb a tower in the North Harbor and refused to come down until the victims’ families’ demands are met.

“O, can ya quip, man!”—This is something that can be formed out of MANNY PACQUIAO who may get away with his ringside punches but not his mouthfuls! One of the most memorable quips of his, “All of my countrymen is hoping that I win this fight. If I beat Morales, it will be a great honor for me to go back to the Philippines with the victory. I want this very much for my country; it will be good for my country and my fans.” I think this merits him to be the torch-bearer in the 2008 Olympics! No one will notice his ‘Engrrish’ anyway.

“I say, I learn, I rule ‘en’ moves.”—This appeared from my mystical pen and paper. I think it means that we should learn to say what’s on our mind, and learn as much as we can, in order for us to rule. Best of all, talking, learning and ruling must come into action now. Move while you still can. I wonder whose name this one anagrams from.

You will always be according to what is written in your name. If it’s not there, then try to make it come out of there. Your destiny lies in the palm of your hand, nowhere else. And for some people, their destiny is in the satires, not in the stars.
