‘A’ Green Plan for ‘M&S’

Marks & Spencer is doing its part to help the environment. Marks & Spencer stores in the Philippines will start using paper bags made of biodegradable material. The new paper bag is part of Marks & Spencer’s Plan A campaign to Reduce Waste—Reuse and Recycle.

Plan A is a campaign to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing the business and our world today. By working closely with suppliers and customers, Marks & Spencer will do its part to combat climate change, reduce waste, safeguard natural resources, trade ethically and build a healthier nation. Plan A is being initiated in the Marks & Spencer stores all over the world. Marks & Spencer believes addressing the bigger issues that face our world today are what customers want and it is the right thing to do. It’s called Plan A because it is now the only way to do business. There is no Plan B.

Besides the paper bags made out of biodegradable material, other Plan A initiatives have also been introduced.

Fair partner

Marks & Spencer’s Fairtrade products help small-scale farmers in developing countries to invest in their communities. Fairtrade certification gives customers an independent guarantee that the farmers who produce the product get a fair price for their crop plus a “Fairtrade Premium,” which is invested into their community. From coffee and tea, to chocolates, to organic cotton T-shirts, Marks & Spencer is committed to responsible sourcing and feel as passionate about ethical standards as they do about quality.

Sustainable raw materials

Marks & Spencer is famous for innovative products. But now innovation and safeguarding natural resources are married successfully through the introduction of a stylish and comfortable pair of trousers entirely made of recycled polyester.

The recycled bottle trousers for women are available in all Marks & Spencer stores, while the Blue Harbour Golf recycled gilet is available at Marks & Spencer Shangri-La Plaza Mall, Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 3 and TriNoma.

Healthy eating

Marks & Spencer has also made eating a lot healthier by removing hydrogenated fats and artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners and unnecessary preservatives from a wide range of food products. Eating healthier is also made a lot simpler by just looking for the sunflower logo on packaging, which symbolizes Marks & Spencer food products that fall under the “Eat Well” range. The “Eat Well” sunflower logo helps to easily identify healthy and nutritionally balanced food at a glance. These products also include the statement “Recommended as part of a healthy balanced diet” on the back of the pack. Some of the great tasting “Eat Well” foods include Redcurrant Puffs, Chocolate Chunk cookies, Cream of Mushroom Soup and Luxury Bran Muesli.

More than just having a commitment to great food and clothing, you can now count on Marks & Spencer to give you eco-friendly, healthy, and ethically sourced food and clothing with the same high quality standards they’ve always been known for.

Marks & Spencer stores are located at Shangri-La Plaza Mall, Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 3, Alabang Town Center, TriNoma, Power Plant Mall, Gateway Mall, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM North Edsa, SM Pampanga, Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Place Manila and Ayala Center Cebu.
