WITH the way fuel costs these days, could it be
bye-bye to Miss American Pie—or more specifically, farewell to the
huge gas-guzzling sport-utility vehicles US carmakers and consumers
love? Wisely, Chevrolet hedged its bet years ago when it
conceptualized a compact sport-ute, one that isn’t as profligate
with precious fossil fuel as big SUVs and trucks are. And one, too,
that could be built and sold in various markets worldwide where
General Motors operates.
