A group of local inventors has warned the public
against supposedly fuel-saving gadgets and advised potential buyers
to check first if such inventions have been certified as such by
concerned government agencies.
According to Orlando Marquez, the vice president
of Filipino Inventors Society, more than 50 gadgets that claim to
improve engine performance, lessen emission and conserve fuel have
been submitted for approval to the Department of Science and
Technology.
He added that out of the more than 50
inventions, only six were issued certifications by the department
and the Energy, Environment and Trade departments.
“Vehicle owners should check first if the
gadget that they are planning to buy is certified by the government
because chances are the invention might not only be ineffective but
could also damage their vehicles,” Marquez said during a chance
interview on Monday.
Certified were Aero Nox, Aire-gas and Nuvitron,
which were found to help improve fuel efficiency; and Biofuels,
Cocobio Diesel and Wonder Lube, all additives which were found to
help improve vehicle performance.
Marquez said interested buyers who want to learn
more about the six inventions can visit the Land Transportation
Office on East Avenue in Quezon City every Saturday. The inventors
will demonstrate use of their gadgets there. They also will conduct
free seminars on vehicle maintenance and safe driving.
He added that Alberto Suansing, the chief of the
transportation office, has allowed the inventors to use the premises
of the agency because Suansing recognizes local talent.
“We need to support each other. Rather than
buying imported gadgets that are not that effective, we should give
our own inventions a try and we guarantee you positive results,”
Marquez said. He was the inventor of the Jumbo Jeep.
