INSPIRED by their stunning victory over the San Beda Red Lions, the
Jose Rizal University (JRU) Heavy Bombers scored an emphatic 68-52
win over the Mapua Cardinals Friday to gain a share of second
spot in the 84th National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball
tournament at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The Heavy Bombers tore the game apart in the
third quarter, turning a 32-26 half time lead into a 55-35 bubble.
It was the fourth straight win of the Heavy
Bombers after opening their campaign with two losses.
The Cardinals dropped to solo fourth at 4-3.
James Sena led the Heavy Bombers with 14 points,
while Marvin Hayes and John Wilson added 11 points apiece. The trio
also presided over the third quarter run of the Heavy Bombers.
