Batangas shoots for a sweep against Dumaguete in Game 2 of their
best-of-three showdown for Baseball Philippines’ Series 3 crown
Saturday at the Rizal Baseball Stadium.
Drawing strength from southpaw Vladimyr
Eguia’s impeccable pitching, the Bulls wore down the Unibikers,
10-3, last week to move within a victory from the championship.
Eguia hurled a no-hitter in 6 innings with
Batangas team manager Randy Dizer hoping to draw the same form from
the 20-year-old State U standout when the Bulls gun for the clincher
at 10:30 a.m.
But Dizer may give Eguia a rest and reserve him
for a possible Game 3.
The Unibikers, a sub-500 team, won four straight
do-or-die games, including a thrilling 3-2 win over the fancied
Manila Sharks, the elimination round topnotchers, to gain a crack at
the championship.
