Reavie takes command at
rain-hit Canadian Open

OAKVILLE, Ontario: Chez Reavie charged to the clubhouse lead Friday at the weather-disrupted Canadian Open.

Reavie posted a 7-under 64 in the second round, which started late and was suspended by darkness with 63 players still on the course.

On the course, Eric Axley was 2 shots back with one hole to play in the second round, which was to resume Saturday morning.

Reavie notched 6 birdies and an eagle at the par-5 13th to move to 13-under 129. He eagled the 13th by holing a wedge from 78 yards.

The 26-year-old had been part of a seven-way tie for first place after the first round, which was completed earlier Friday due to torrential rain that halted play for nearly six hours on Thursday.

Axley, at 11-under, had notched 4 birdies without a bogey through 17 holes.

His playing partner, Nicholas Thompson, was alone at 9-under with just one hole to play.

Billy Mayfair (66) and Steve Marino (67) each managed to complete their rounds and were tied at 8-under 134.

Cliff Kresege (66), Carlos Franco (68), Ken Duke (67) and Kevin Na (66) all finished at 135.

Local favorite Mike Weir was tied for the lead after the first round but was at even-par through 16 holes in his second round and 6-under overall thanks to a double-bogey at the ninth.
