Remember how you felt when you first learned how to drive? How you
couldn’t wait to even just back up your car or park it in your
garage? How you swore never to take the public commute once you got
your license and how you secretly wanted to race with all those cars
on the highway?
Well, I bet you also remember that parking space
weren’t as rare as honest politicians, gas prices were probably a
lot cheaper, and the word “road rage” was alien to you.
Now you can relive all your good driving
memories, experience the thrill of racing and unleash all that
pent-up road rage safely without spending a single peso on gas.
Level Up! Games recently gave the media a chance
to check out Crazy Kart, its latest venture in casual gaming, at the
National Sports Grill in Greenbelt. The Philippines’ top female
racer Gabby de la Merced even graced the event to test out her
virtual racing skills.
With the abundance of massively multiplayer
online role-playing game today, Crazy Kart comes as a breath of
fresh air with its rich, massive 3D atmosphere, adorable characters
and action-packed game play.
“We wanted to offer something different from
all the other online games we had in the past,” said Jane Walker,
CEO of Level Up! Philippines. “Crazy Kart’s fun and interactive
game play will appeal to everyone as it is easy-to-learn for casual
gamers yet challenging enough to keep hardcore gamers entertained
and wanting more.
“Level Up is continuously on the lookout for
new games that will appeal to all our players,” shared Level Up
founder Ben “Gameboss” Colayco. “When we heard about game
developer Shanda and their award-winning Crazy Kart game, we knew
exactly what will be the next big thing to hit Level Up and our
local online gaming industry,” Colayco said.
Colayco added they chose a racing game because
of the Filipinos’ penchant for driving. “We wanted a game that
anyone can just pick up and play. And while there are a lot of
console and PC racing games out there, it would cost you several
thousands of pesos unlike Crazy Kart which is free to download and
Free to Play. The system requirements are also very low and you can
easily choose from a variety of game modes and tracks and race with
lots of different people anytime.”
Level Up believes that “everyone’s a gamer;
they just don’t know it yet,” and hopes Crazy Kart’s mass
appeal will open everyone’s mind to that realization. Besides
being the first online racing game in the country, Crazy Kart will
also be the first to feature the passenger jeepney, the owner-type
jeep, and the infamous FX among its lineup of vehicles. Level Up!
has also made it the first “tagalized” online game and promises
to make it even more Pinoy by creating maps based on local streets
and cities.
Crazy Kart began its closed beta release on June
17, 2008, and will begin its open beta release on July 31. Crazy
Kart is definitely set to spark a new craze in casual gaming. Feed
your need for speed and let your road rage loose online with Crazy
Kart. For details, visit www.crazykart.ph.
