UNIOIL Petroleum Philippines Inc. plans to put up
additional retail stations in Metro Manila as part of its expansion
this year.
Luisito Medina-Cue Jr., Unioil
general manager, told reporters that the company is allocating
around P60 million to P90 million for the construction of six
service stations.
“We’re looking at six more
additional stations this year,” he said, on top of Unioil’s
current 40, most of which are located in Luzon.
Medina-Cue said the company
started construction of two stations along Edsa in Caloocan City and
along Banawe in Quezon City. The other stations will be put up in
the cities of Las Piñas, Makati and Pasay.
Unioil is engaged in retail, the
marketing and blending of lubricants, oil trading, terminal
operations, and most recently, the marketing of bitumen or asphalt.
It is the sister company of
Oillink International Corp. whose oil depot in Mariveles, Bataan,
accounts for about 12 percent of the country’s total fuel
requirements.
The facility services the supply
needs of over 500 refilling stations across the country that are
mostly run by small oil companies.
Unioil also owns modern storage
and handling facilities in Lucanin, Bataan, and petroleum storage
facilities in Sta. Ana, Manila, with a one million-barrel capacity.
The company began expanding the facility to increase its capacity to
1.5 million barrels in anticipation of a hike in demand.
