ANTIPOLO City: Keeping in step with the fast-paced
and ever-changing industry of information technology (IT), an IT
school will soon rise to cater to students who live in the remote
highland town of the city.
Brgy. Capt. Ito Garcia of
Barangay San Jose said the construction of the IT school which is a
first in this area will definitely improve the craft of the
students, as it will spare them transport expenses, and more
importantly, tuition.
The construction of the IT school
will start next month along Maximo Gatlabayan Road, Sitio Kaysakat,
Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City.
The project, which is a priority
of the city government, was a welcome development to the said
barangay whose residents have to go down to the city proper just to
get proper education.
Garcia said the building would be
built on a 500-square-meter lot that was donated by the heirs of
Ret. Gen. Josephus Ramas, while the building will be shouldered by
the city government under Mayor Victor Sumulong.
“Dito kasi ako isinilang at
dito na rin lumaki sa lugar na ito, at nakikita ko na ang mga
kabataan ay maagang nakakapag-asawa nang hindi man lamang nakaranas
mag-aral [I was born here, I grew up here, and I’ve seen many of
the young getting married early without even experiencing going to
school],” said Garcia.
The barangay chief said the
expenses for the operation of the IT school will come from the
P32-million yearly budget of the barangay.
No tuition fee will be charged by
the said IT school particularly to city residents and those from
Barangay San Jose.
The area is located in a remote
area of the city situated between the town of Teresa, Baras and
Tanay in Rizal province.
