GMA rejects calls to scrap consumption tax |
|
President Gloria Arroyo on Monday
turned down appeals to scrap an unpopular sales tax because of
surging inflation, warning that food and fuel prices would likely
remain high.
In her annual State of the Nation
Address (SONA), she expressed support, though, for calls to extend
the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program for another five years.
The program expired in June.
