52 policemen dismissed

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director Gen. Avelino Razon Jr. dismissed 52 police personnel from the service for various offenses committed during the past four months.

At the same time, 313 other policemen were given disciplinary sanctions for administrative offenses and involvement in irregularities.

“While the PNP is quick and grateful in giving due recognition to outstanding personnel for good performance, the PNP is also swift and decisive in addressing issues on discipline by some erring members of the force,” Razon said in a statement.

Based on data from the Task Force Patnubay of the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management, the 52 dismissed personnel were involved in cases ranging from grave misconduct, serious irregularities and involvement criminal activities. Those dismissed were a commissioned officer, 50 non-commissioned officers and a non-uniformed personnel.

The task force keeps track of all administrative and criminal cases involving police personnel.

Aside from those dismissed, the national police also imposed sanctions against 313 personnel who were penalized with demotion in rank, suspension, forfeiture of salary, reprimand, forced resignation and restriction to quarters.

From January to April this year, there were also 55 police personnel who were dropped from rolls, mostly for going on absence without official leave or AWOL.

The records also showed that the 365 personnel given disciplinary punishment were among 881 personnel, who were investigated and charged in 589 cases handled by the different summary hearing boards over the past four months.

At present, there are still 3,127 pending administrative cases awaiting resolution in the summary hearing boards, mostly carry-over cases from the previous years.

The national police spokesman, Chief Supt. Nicanor Bartolome, said all benefits of the dismissed personnel have been forfeited.
