LandBank loan offers farmers
chance to boost food security

DUMAGUETE City: The Provincial Agriculturist Office in Negros Oriental is urging farmers to avail themselves of a loan scheme offered by the Land Bank of the Philippines to bolster food security in the country, reported the Philippine News Agency.

Provincial Agriculturist Gregorio Paltinca met with the different area and district coordinators recently to discuss the LandBank program “Magtanim, Magbayad at Manalo.”

Under the program, farmers’ associations and qualified groups registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Cooperative Development Authority, the Department of Labor and Employment and other similar agencies, can qualify for the loan.

Land Bank has set aside P5 billion for rice production under the program, which points to the Provincial Agriculturist Office as a conduit between the bank and the borrowers.
