Red Bull prevails, grabs solo second

RED BULL ended its slump with an 86-62 victory over Barangay Ginebra in the 2008 Smart-PBA Fiesta Conference at the Araneta Coliseum Sunday.

Rookie Jojo Duncil had a career-high 18 points as the Barakos notched their eighth win in 13 outings to gain solo second behind the Coca-Cola Tigers (8-4).

The former UST Tigers also accounted for three rebounds, two assists and two steals for Red Bull, which also defeated Ginebra 89-83 in the first round. He was 5-of-8 from the field and 7-of-11 from the free-throw area.

After trailing in the first three quarters, the Kings rallied behind Junthy Valenzuela’s back-to-back 3-pointers to close in at 79-83, less than a minute left in the game. But that proved to be their last gallant stand.

The loss gave the Kings a 4-8 record for ninth place.

Mexican Adam Parada led the Barakos with 20 points, 23 rebounds, five assists and one steal while Cyrus Baguio finished with 18 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Import Chris Alexander led the Kings with 27 points and 29 rebounds while Jay-Jay Helter-brand and Valenzuela chipped in 18 and 15 points, respectively.
