THE top military official of the United States military met with his
Philippine counterpart Monday and assured continuous commitment on
the counter-terrorism cooperation.
Admiral Michael Mullen, chairman of the US Armed
Forces Joint Chiefs of the Staff, just attended the 7th
International Institute of Strategic Studies’ Security Summit: The
Shangri-La Defense Dialogue in Singapore.
Yano in an interview said among those discussed
during Mullen’s “customary visit” are usual issues, like the
relationship between the two countries; support and assistance of
the US government and its military to the Armed Forces of the
Philippines, particularly in capability upgrading and modernization;
and the continuous war against terror.
“No new arrangements were discussed, in fact
the visit is just customary for a counterpart. . . we are happy and
honored that he has visited us and paid a call on me, it only shows
or manifests the importance of the robust RP-US relationship that
has spanned several years,” Yano said in an interview.
Prior to his arrival in Manila, Mullen visited
Zamboanga Sunday, together with Yano and US Ambassador Kristie
Kenny.
As for the counter terror cooperation, Yano said

Singapore which was participated by representatives from 27 nations
