UNIVERSITY of the East will go all-out when it
battles San Beda College in the quarterfinals of the 2008 Nike
Summer League on Thursday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
“The boys worked hard to be in
the quarters and definitely, they will do their best to reach the
next round,” said former Red Warrior Bong Ravena, representing
coach Dindo Pumaren, during Monday’s press conference at the ABS-CBN
building.
UE, which finished second in
Group C, is expected to face a strong challenge from San Beda, which
topped Group B with a 6-0 record, in their 4 p.m. encounter.
“We’ll be ready for anything.
We’ll give our opponents a good fight,” added Ravena, who also
played in the PBL and PBA.
Defending champion De La Salle,
which topped Group A, will meet Feati University, the No. 2 team in
Group D, in the other quarterfinal match at 2 p.m.
Seeing action on Sunday are Far
Eastern University against Lyceum of the Philippines at 2 p.m. and
Ateneo de Manila University against Mapua Institute of Technology at
4 p.m.
Competition in the women’s
division started Monday while action in the junior category begins
Tuesday.
The champion team will get
P200,000 worth of Nike products while the winners in the women’s
and junior divisions will get P150,000 worth of Nike products each.
