Inflation seen at fastest rate in May;
peso to weaken further

PRICES of goods and services in May could have surged at fastest pace in more than three years, according to economists polled by The Manila Times amid speculations that central bank may raise policy rates to slow down inflation.

The mean average of the three economists polled showed the inflation rate in May could have hit 9.1 percent, within the BSP forecast of between 8.8 percent and 9.6 percent.
