Criminal neglect
|
|
It’s been a month since Cyclone Nargis devastated Burma, specially
its Irrawady Delta region. Nargis hurt not only Burma and its
people. It also damaged the world. Burma is one of the world’s
major rice suppliers. But because the cyclone destroyed this
season’s rice crop, Burma will have to import rice to meet its own
needs. That will drive up the price of rice higher than it already
is for us Filipinos and other rice-importing people.
The greater damage is to the poor Burmese
victims.
