Juday may face House
grilling over Meralco ad

ACTRESS Judy Ann “Juday” Santos might find herself in trouble because of her commercial defending the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco).

Rep. Bienvenido Abante Jr. of Manila said he already ordered the legal officers of the House Committee on Public Information to look into the possible repercussions of the commercial.

Although he said the committee doesn’t have plans yet to invite Santos to a hearing, the lawmaker assured that they will not allow the issue to die down because it concerns public interest.

At the same time, Abante appealed to the members of the entertainment industry to be more responsible in accepting advertising offers and to always put public interest first before money.

Earlier, several groups scored the actress for appearing in the Meralco advertisement. The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption even called for a boycott of the movies where Santos is appearing.

Government Service Insurance System spokesperson Estrella Elamparo on Wednesday described the Meralco advertisements of Santos as a “desperate act” on the part of the Lopezes.
