Zamboanga, Adamson-Manila in finals

LIPA CITY: Zamboanga City and Adamson University-Manila demolished their respective page-system semifinal round opponents Thursday, to earn the outright championship playoff berth in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively, in the National Open softball championships at the Barangay Marauoy field.

Zamboanga City, the No. 1 team in Group B of the elimination round, demolished Group A leader Lipa City, 13-6, to notch its sixth straight win in the tournament hosted by Mayor Oscar Gozos and supported by Cebuana Lhuillier.

Zamboanga will meet the winner between Lipa City and Philippine Air Force, which face each other in the lower half of the page-system.

The Airmen defeated Rizal Technological University 10-3 in the other game.

In the women’s division, five-time UAAP champion Adamson University-Manila, thwarted the challenge of Group B leader Rizal Province 8-4 to advance against the winner between the Rizalians and defending champion University of the Philippines.

The Maroons won over Adamson-Lipa 3-0.
