Inflation hits
record 9.6% |

Nine-year high caused by soaring food, fuel prices |

Soaring food and fuel prices
caused the inflation rate to surge to a nine-year high in May, the
National Statistics Office reported Thursday.
The record inflation rate sent
Philippine share prices closing at 1.97 percent lower, stoking
expectations of a hike in interest rates, dealers said.
