Sixteen ‘kubradors’ arrested in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY: Around 16 alleged jueteng bet collectors were arrested by operatives of the Baguio City Police Office Intelligence Unit shortly after lunch in Lower Brookside on Friday.

Jueteng bet collections in different dominations and other paraphernalia’s were also confiscated from the alleged jueteng bet collectors, according to BCPO Intelligence Unit head Supt. Andrew Cayat.

Cayat said the he immediately formed a team after receiving information from concerned citizens of the presence of suspected persons involved in the illegal numbers game, particularly jueteng.

Initial investigations revealed that majority of the arrested persons are not Baguio residents as they claimed to be from central Luzon.

A police operative said the operation of jueteng is in a form of “guerrila” scheme or not an organized one.

Police officers requested the cooperation of the community in its fight against all forms of illegal gambling by reporting suspicious activities within their respective barangays.

Ranking officers of the Cordillera police regional command have informed all police unit commanders in the entire region that the “1-2-3 strike” policy on jueteng remains in effect.
