Top bowlers play in int’l open

The best bowlers from the country and the other parts of the world will show their wares in the 37th Philippine International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships from June 12 to 28 at the SM Mall of Asia Bowling Center.

Players from more than 10 countries are expected to participate in one of Asia’s longest-running bowling tournament formerly known as the PBC International Open.

Liza del Rosario will be out to defend her title in the ladies’ masters while Asian star Wu Siu Hong of Hong Kong will try to retain the men’s masters crown.

Also on tap in the tournament organized by the Philippine Bowling Congress in cooperation with Ebonite International and hosted by the SM Bowling Center are the graded, associates, rookies and seniors masters and boys and girls youth masters.

The top 16 in the Open Masters will qualify for the Philippine leg of the Asian Bowling Federation Tour 2008 slated on June 29 at the same venue.

Carrying the load for the home team are 2006 World Men’s Masters champion Biboy Rivera, three-time Southeast Asian Games gold medal winner Paolo Valdez and del Rosario.
