Shortly after launching the first Global Positioning System (GPS) in
the local automotive industry, BMW Phils. has installed the BMW
Navigation system on the 1 Series following its introduction in 3
Series.
The Navigation is now featured in the 116i, the
120d Sport, the 318i, 320d Sport and the 335i Coupe and the new 1
Series Convertible.
The Navigation system is a portable GPS device
that maps out directions to selected destinations. Users simply have
to input their destination on the 3.5-inch touch screen and
Navigation instantly provides guidance through a pre-installed map.
For added clarity, the map can be displayed in either two or three
dimensions. While it already covers major thoroughfares in cities
and municipalities around the Philippines, periodic upgrades will
continuously be made available at all authorized BMW dealerships in
the country.
Navigation also integrates Bluetooth wireless
technology, its built-in microphone and speaker can be paired with
most mobile phones so drivers can make hands-free calls. The system
also has an MP3 player that can be hooked up to the aux-in jack in
the 1 Series and 3 Series cars.
Since the system is directly connected to the
power supply of the onboard network of the vehicle, it’s charged
whenever the vehicle is used. The system’s integrated accumulator
battery then allows owners to use it outside the car for four to six
hours.
Navigation is now available as standard
equipment until June 30. It can be tested through drives offered at
BMW dealers Autohaus BMW (Quezon City), Autozentrum BMW (Alabang),
Klassik BMW (Araneta Avenue–Quezon Avenue, Quezon City), Prestige
Cars BMW (Makati), Premiere Cars BMW (Pampanga) and Performance BMW
(Cebu). More information is available at www.bmw.com.ph/bmwnavigation.
