Alaska targets win No. 8

DEFENDING champion Alaska eyes its sixth straight win against cellar-dweller Welcoat Wednesday in the 2008 Smart-PBA Fiesta Conference at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Aces battle the Dragons at 4:50 p.m. before sister teams Barangay Ginebra and Purefoods collide at 7:20 p.m.

After losing to Purefoods 78-88 in Calape, Bohol on May 10, Alaska has won five straight to improve its record to 7-6.

In their 86-84 win over the Express on June 6, the Aces banked on Willy Miller, who finished with 21 points and five assists, and import Randy Holcomb, who had 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

Alaska is also hoping to repeat its 92-90 first-round win over Welcoat, which is coming off a 102-97 win over the Giants on Saturday at the Mindanao Civic Center in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

The Kings, sporting a 5-8 record, defeated the Giants 102-99 in the first round on May 2.
