The Philippine National Police (PNP) has come up with a great idea
to help its personnel cope with the rising cost of food.
The Service Stores System of the national police
is presently selling government rice at P18.25 per kilo as mandated
by the national government, with every buyer limited to four kilos
of rice at every purchase.
The national police chief, Director Gen. Avelino
Razon, said this is a “big help” to all “Mamang Pulis” and
“Aleng Pulis” as well as non-uniformed employees of the PNP.
“This is our way of helping them keep up with
the rising prices of commodities,” Razon said.
The National Food Authority (NFA) is allotting a
quota of 25 sacks per week or 100 sacks per month for every Mamang
Pulis outlet.
According to administrator of the Service Stores
System of the national police, retired Police Director Jose Antonio
Salvacion, the inventory of NFA rice lasts from two to three days
after delivery.
The Mamang Pulis store also sells tax-subsidized
groceries, dry goods, wet products, and other basic merchandise to
all national police personnel and their dependents.
The national police also offers tax-subsidized
gasoline to all of its personnel.
“All these services provided by the PNP to our
Mamang Pulis and Aleng Pulis are meant to help their families and
serve as an incentive for their continuing effort in serving and
protecting our people,” Razon said.
