Pioneering retail chain Rustan’s Supermarket partners with the
Cancer Resource and Wellness Community (Carewell) for the display
and sale of specially designed ceramic mugs by renowned ceramicist
Lanelle Abueva-Fernando. Abueva-Fernando is the daughter of former
University of the Philippines President Jose Abueva and the niece of
the National Artist for Sculpture Napoleon Abueva. Her earthen wares
have a distinct Japanese style.
This special edition mug is the product of
a partnership between Carewell, a nonprofit foundation that provides
support, education, and hope free of charge to persons with cancer
and their loved ones, and Rustan’s Supermarket.
Made of Mount Pinatubo ash glaze, the
finest ash produced by the Mount Pinatubo eruption, each mug is
hand-made by Lanelle Abueva-Fernando and her small band of Antipolo
artisans. By purchasing these mugs, you can also be a part of this
inspired partnership and support Carewell and Rustan’s
Supermarkets in providing hope to cancer patients and their loved
ones by making Abueva-Fernando’s specially commissioned ceramic
mugs a part of your home and office. Proceeds of the ceramic mug
sales will benefit the Cancer Resource and Wellness Community.
Incorporated in 2005, the Cancer Resource and
Wellness (Carewell) Community Foundation provides resources,
services, and activities to persons with cancer and their loved ones
to include: counseling, support groups, a library and resource
center, wellness and fun activities, medical consultations,
referrals, talks, and participation in a network of persons with
cancer and their loved ones.
The Carewell Community Foundation, Inc. is
located at the 6th Floor of S&L Building, de la Rosa corner
Esteban Streets, Legaspi Village, Makati City.
These one-of-a-kind ceramic mugs are available
for sale at Rustan’s Supermarket Ayala Center, Rockwell, San
Antonio, and Magallanes.
