In search of characters for national renewal

The search for real characters is on—characters who will take on what could be the biggest role of their lives. The Character Building Foundation (CBF) is far from being a reality TV search. This one seeks Filipinos of all ages who can do the right thing under any circumstances. The characters being sought include individuals and companies who believe that a strong positive character is the foundation of a progressive nation.

Led by respected TV Director and Producer Heidi Sison, CBF is made up of professionals who share the belief that the Philippines need a rebirth for it to mature as a truly progressive nation. For almost six years now, the Foundation has been taking on a crusade that will draw out a national character formed from solid values of honesty, hard work and truthfulness. This campaaign has been mostly operating on its own funds, and the current economic situation is not exactly in favor of self-sustaining operations.

“This nation can be great again, when every Filipino can find it in his heart to make this happen. It takes a collective effort to fulfill national renewal. For this reason we are seeking the support of generous individuals and private corporations to help us,” Direk Heidi appeals.

The CBF campaign is based on the rationale that Filipinos today have become jaded in negative behavior and misdeeds that pervade society. With such seeming callousness, what was deemed wrong before has now become acceptable. CBF believes that this can be change by reigniting the individual’s true strength of character in ways that will make him productive, positive, and effective.

CBF fulfills this objective of character building through two vehicles: a Multi-Media Presentation of Values for private companies and organizations, and Gawin Ang Tama Roadshow for families and community members of participating companies. These tools use the creative and apolitical approach.

The Direk Heidi Multi-Media Presentation of Values involves the use of powerpoint presentations, music, mini documentaries, excerpts from movies to inspire positive character, and interactive dialogue between presenter and audience. The audience is likewise exposed to true-to-life stories wherein lessons of life are learned. The Gawin ang Tama Roadshow involves magicians, novelty songs, dancers, rappers, singers, storytellers and contests that appeal to all types of audiences all geared towards doing RIGHT.

Direk Heidi’s technique of inculcating values in an entertaining way has been working wonders so far. The CBF was instrumental in encouraging positive character awareness in the military, government agencies, local governments and private companies. Some of these recipients of the CBF program have even requested for a repeat of the sessions.

It is understandable for people to entertain doubts when taking the road less traveled on the way to progress. It takes a strong positive character to traverse this path alone. That is why CBF is willing to walk alongside every Filipino who is willing to help uphold the right values. Collectively, it can be done. And at the end of every CBF event, everyone comes out a winner.

Heidi Sison has produced and directed TV variety shows, musicals, drama, game shows, among others. For more information about CBF visit their website www.cbf.com.ph, or contact them via landline at 8905321 and cell-phone number 0917-6264134
