DAGUPAN CITY: Electricity was cut off in some areas
of Pangasinan as typhoon Frank lashed out the province starting at 3
p.m. on Sunday, reported the Philippine News Agency.
It’s been more than a month
after super typhoon Cosme caused heavy damages in the province on
May 17 in terms of public and private properties, including
agriculture.
An alert bulletin from the
Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) based in Lingayen
stated that Pangasinan is now under typhoon signal no. 3.
The Dagupan Electric Corporation
had to shut off power in some of its coverage areas in Central
Pangasinan due to strong winds.
A telephone call from Director
Eugene Cabrera of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Region I
advised all disaster councils down the ground to undertake
pre-emptive evacuation of residents in high-risk areas due to
expected strong winds and heavy rains in late afternoon.
OCD said the water level of most
of the Agno river tributaries, particularly creeks and streams, is
expected to rise due to heavy rains.
Residents in low lying areas near
the foot of the mountains along the upper tributaries of the Agno
river have been alerted to move out to safer grounds.
