Coo, Nepomuceno show 
flashes of old brilliance


INTERNATIONAL Bowling Hall of Famers Bong Coo and Paeng Nepomuceno came up with big games to grab the spotlight on day 10 of the 37th Philippine International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships at SM Bowling Center in Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

A successful garment business owner and current secretary-general of the Philippine Bowling Congress, Coo finished 1-2-3 in the Class A ladies’ doubles event with different partners Abbie Gan (798), Jinggay Facuri (795) and Gina Avecilla (784).

The nine-time RP Open Ladies’ Masters champion who banners MBA-Prima-Timberpro also rolled 880 in the Graded Masters qualifying to rank behind MTBA-Henrich’s Veijin Uy (939) and amassed 1628 to trail by two pins TBAM-Prima-RP Beta’s Joylynn Yambao in Class A all-events.

Six-time world champion Nepomuceno of PBC-Prima-Nutrilite narrowly missed scoring the tourney’s third perfect game by shooting 299 in the first game of the Open Masters qualifying. He added 226, 256 and 200 for a 981 that put him in sixth spot.

Kuwait’s Fahad Ali and Yaquob Al-Shatti led the foreigners’ charge in the overseas pool of the men’s Open masters event.

Ali carded 934 while Al-Shatti submitted 931.

Southeast Asian Games ladies’ Masters titlist Sharon Limansantoso of Indonesia led the overseas pool in the ladies’ Masters with 871. Defending champion Liza del Rosario paced the local qualifying with 932, followed by national team rookie Dyan Coronacion (916) and Krizziah Tabora (904).
