Isuzu starts fuel efficiency
campaign for families

ISUZU Phils. Corp. (IPC) bared it has launched a five-month series of activities that aims to emphasize its superiority in fuel-efficient diesel-powered vehicles. The new campaign is called the Isuzu Family Challenge.

Isuzu said that for 17 Saturdays beginning June until November, the Isuzu Family Challenge will tour the company’s 20-dealership network, where the one-day activities will combine the Isuzu Challenge and the Isuzu Family Day. By merging the two, Isuzu said it is clearly sending the message that fuel-efficiency awareness should now be a family thing.

According to Isuzu, the event consists of a fuel-economy contest for the adults while the kids will have family activities. Participants must use the Crosswind, the Global D-Max and Alterra Isuzu vehicles that are stock and which have not logged more than 100,000 kilometers of use.

“It doesn’t matter who the vehicle owner is or what brand of vehicle he drives,” said IPC President Keiji Takeda. “The issue of fuel-efficiency is for everyone, especially those with families. Fortunately, Isuzu vehicles are not just fuel-efficient, they also provide generous space and passenger comfort for the whole family,” he added.

At the kick-off round on June 7 held at Isuzu Quezon Avenue, competing teams covered 175 kilometers, Isuzu said. Spouses Ricardo Flaviano and Nadine Flaviano in a Crosswind XL took the top spot, winning P15,000, with a fuel-efficiency record of 24.313 kilometers-per-liter (kpl). In second place were brothers Gregorio Crepe and Jimmy Crepe in a Crosswind XTi, winning P10,000, with a record of 22.766kpl. Coming in third-best were David Jan and Luzviminda Soriano, winning P5,000, with a record of 22.275kpl in an Isuzu Alterra.

Isuzu announced the Isuzu Family Day Challenge will be held at its dealerships in San Pablo on June 28; in Makati on July 5; in Cavite on July 26; in Isabela on August 2; in Cabanatuan on August 9; in Bulacan on August 16; in Pampanga on September 6; in Pangasinan on September 13; in Batangas on September 20; in Mandaue on October 11; in Davao on October 18; in Iloilo on October 25; in Bacolod on November 8; and in Cagayan de Oro on November 15.

Isuzu said it has partnered with Smart Communications, JVC Mobile Entertainment System and 3M Scotchtint in this event.
