MILF spokesman says government troops attacking their
positions without provocation in violation of truce
ZAMBOANGA CITY: Fierce fighting erupted
Wednesday between government troops and Muslim rebels in Mindanao
with both sides reporting as many as 14 people dead.
Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels said
four army soldiers were killed in the fighting near Maguindanao, one
of six provinces under the Muslim autonomous region. Clashes also
broke out in Sarangani province, southeast of Maguindanao, said Eid
Kabalu, a rebel spokesman.
A CANON law expert and a ranking member of the Catholic Bishops,
Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) on Tuesday called for the
immediate resolution of a rape case involving a priest in Moutain
Province.
COTABATO CITY: The Lakas Christian-Muslim Democrats regional chapter
in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) feels confident
of victory in the scheduled August polls. The campaign period starts
on Friday, June 27, and will last until August 9.
