Manila routs Pasig

China-bound Team Manila showed too much class in a 38-0 massacre of Pasig Wednesday in the Philippine Olympic Festival National Capital Region softball qualifying at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP)  field.

The Manileñas, who will be representing the country in the coming Asia Pacific Big League (16-18) girls’ softball tournament next month in Guangzhou, China, had their opponents at the palm of their hands during the abbreviated three-inning rout.

Jeniffer Pangilinan and Felixwinbda Custodio’s combined for a no-hitter while the Manila batters connected on 29 occasions.

Marissa de la Cruz and Maricris Guidalona belted out a pair of home runs each in the lopsided affair.

University of the East also flexed its muscle with a pair of easy wins.

The Lady Warriors first dispatched De La Salle in 5-inning regulation, 12-1, and followed it up with a 7-0 shutout of host PUP in just four frames.
