Here are some random thoughts that came to mind which I hope will
give you food for thought.
There are some things in life that cannot be
cured, only endured. Some of us are short in stature. Even if we
don’t like it, we have to endure it. We might wish we did not have
the parents, the family we were born into. Maybe we don’t like our
skin color, our approaching old age or things like that. If,
however, you think long and hard, most things, situations and
circumstances can be changed if only we put our minds to it. It is
all a matter of priorities and determination.
Think yourself happy. When you get up in the
morning, look for a reason to be happy. It’s a beautiful sunny
day. The birds are singing. Time to be happy. It’s raining with
dark clouds overhead. The plants and flowers need watering. They are
happy with the life-giving rain. Be happy with them.
This is how you “think yourself happy.”
There is no way you cannot find reason to be happy if only you give
it a try.
Don’t just stand there. Do something! Most
problems get worse because they are left to deteriorate. Your teeth
are bad. You do nothing because of fear of dentists. Then, one day,
they need to be pulled. Your relationship is going badly. You keep
hoping things will get better instead of asking for help.
The worst thing you can do when faced with a
problem is to do nothing. So, don’t just stand there. Do
something.
From a broken violin don’t expect fine music.
Learn as quickly as possible this truth. If you are attracted to a
screwed up guy or a foolish woman, don’t expect a great measure of
happiness. The odds are against that happening. Immature people
behave immaturely. It is too much to expect otherwise and unwise to
think that there will be sudden change. A dull knife cannot cut
well. Neither should you expect much from a dull mind.
This gives rise to another thought. If you sleep
with a dog, you will awake full of fleas. Don’t think that your
association with unsavory characters will leave you unaffected. The
company you keep is bound to mark you in some way or another. If you
were able to spend a year with Mother Teresa, she surely would have
made a lasting impression on you in a very positive way. If, on the
other hand, you made a habit of going to bars and houses of
prostitution, that too would have had an impact on you, and most
likely, in a negative way.
