The Philippine National Red Cross has confirmed the identities of 51
survivors from the sinking of MV Princess of the Stars. Those of
five others, though, are being established, Red Cross Chairman and
Sen. Richard Gordon said Thursday.
According to Gordon, 40 of the survivors are
male and six are female. The five crew who survived are all male. He
did not give the gender of the other five survivors whose identities
are being firmed up.
He identified the male survivors as: Oliver
Amorin, Jessie Buot, Jesus Junaco, Rey Padin, Danilo Dellansa,
Ritchie Tauntong, Gerry Pelenor, Pal Philip Vasquez, Oniel Lubguban,
Ralph Alain de la Peņa, Carlo Jason Arrabis, Rodel Laborte, Jose
Marie Garbo. Nino Lauros, Fausto Colis, Francisco Batula, Vicente
Bernas, Ardina Renante.
Exuperto Pendon, Antonio Cosep Jr., Ronie
Relatibo, Dexter Lagahid, Flordelinda Arao-Arao, Nilo Daygo, Wresley
Blanco, Jesus Gica, Alex Kifti, Rene Graciano, Edgardo Villester,
Vicente Batiktik, Jobert Sineneng, Edgardo Baflor, Rupert Tan, Jimmy
Relativo, Atellano Cutando, Pedro de la Cruz, Edwin de la Serna,
Nolan Garabat and Pio Sadan.
Those confined in various hospitals are: Junaco,
at the Air Force General Hospital; Dellansa, Relatibo, Kifti,
Graciano, Villester, Batiktik, Sineneng and Baflor, all at QZN
Hospital in Lucena City, Quezon; and Lagahid, at a Romblon hospital.
The rest have either returned to Cebu or been turned over to the Red
Cross.
The female survivors, according to Gordon, are:
Sosen Lesbo, Niverva Toremucha, Jeeca Tunacao, Sandy Sishomen,
Rocelle Cinco and Esmeralda Mata.
Sishomen is confined at QZN Hospital in Lucena
City.
The five crew who survived are: Renato Barro
Lunarias, Roel Vibo (Libut), Ciriaco Nuņez, Fel Gilig and
Estanislao Tura Jr.
The five other survivors whose identities are
being established were all rescued at San Isidro and Inganyo
villages in Burias, Masbate.
Red Cross officials said the bodies of 124
fatalities from the sinking of Princess of the Stars have been
recovered. It did not give the names of the victims, however.
Islanders who had discovered the decomposing and
bloated bodies of some fatalities buried them immediately without
determining their identities for health and sanitation reasons.
