Dinky’s kinks

Every time we see the former social welfare secretary “Dinky” Corazon Juliano Soliman we recall that just hours before she began attacking her old friend, benefactress and boss she was lustily singing “If We Hold On Together.” The song was the Cabinet’s declaration of loyalty to President Gloria Arroyo. Dinky—like the others who would later be among the “Hyatt 10”—did not mean in her heart what her mouth was saying.

We also remember her claim that she had overheard Presidential Political Adviser Gabriel Claudio telling President Arroyo about lawyer Oliver Lozano’s pretend impeachment complaint. Dinky said she heard the President instructing Claudio to get Congressman Rodante Mercoleta to endorse it. Claudio, of course, denied that such a conversation took place.
