SAS Philippines performs top in ‘07

Business intelligence (BI) and analytics solutions provider, SAS Philippines, recorded its best ever with 45-percent increase in revenue in 2007 compared to the previous year with new markets comprising 51 percent of earning. This marks 17 consecutive years of revenue growth for the SAS local office.

In addition, SAS Philippines was awarded “Top Performing Country of the Year” by its global office under the Fast Growing Counries Category.

“This is the best so far,” said Sonny Halili, managing director of SAS Philippines in an exclusive press luncheon with local media in Makati City.

“The growth can be attributed with the acceptance of the market for the need of business intelligence, added to the fact that we have excellent solutions not offered by others,” Halili added.

Driven by greater awareness and demand for BI and analytics solutions, worldwide SAS revenue totaled $2.15 billion, up 15 percent over 2006 results, recording its 31st straight year of revenue growth. BI applications accounted for 29 percent of SAS’ 2007 revenue.

In the Philippines, SAS started quietly in 1991 and since then has become a recognized leader in business intelligence in the country, providing forward-thinking companies in sectors such as financial services, telecommunications, commercial sectors and education.

In 2007, manpower at SAS Philippines grew to over 100 employees, up from the previous 20 people back in 2003; at the same time acquiring last year top customers such as Shopwise, Hitachi Global Storage, TDK Fujitsu, Maynilad, Toyota Financials, and the Development Bank of the Philippines.

“Continued strong growth is expected by SAS as more organizations take on the fact-based decision making. Business intelligence for the masses, combined with the trend toward standardization, requires a powerful, consistent platform, and only the SAS Enterprise Intelligence Platform offers this capability,” according to Halili.

“What we offer is very different [from the competition]; these are not just software tools. What we have are business solutions combined with the knowledge of the business,” Halili said.
