Public trust in the President’s
husband, lawyer Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo, continues to plummet,
the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed.
SWS said his trust rating, at net
minus 51, hit the lowest degree of trust recorded since January
2001.
The non-commissioned survey
conducted from November 30 to December 3, 2007, found that only 13
percent of the respondents had “much trust” in the President’s
husband, while 64 percent had “little trust” in him.
SWS also reported that there had
been an average of 20 percent saying they had much trust in Mike
Arroyo in 21 national surveys conducted from January 2001 to
December 2007.
“Since an average of 52 percent
said they had little trust in him, Mr. Arroyo’s resulting average
net trust rating was—32 in the said period,” SWS reported.
“His net-trust rating has been positive only once, in January
2001.”
“Public satisfaction with
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s performance and public trust
in the First Gentleman are directly related to each other,” the
SWS report added.
Public distrust in Mike Arroyo
was highest in Metro Manila, net minus 66; then in the rest of
Luzon, net minus 56; in Mindanao, net minus 49; and lowest in the
Visayas, net minus 35. Distrust was also higher among the ABC
classes, where he got a net minus 65, compared to class D, net minus
49; and class E respondents, net minus 50.
The consistent drop in his
ratings can be blamed on the allegations thrown against him.
Recently, Mike Arroyo was implicated in the controversial
multimillion-dollar broadband deal. He has said he did nothing
wrong.
