HERMOSA, Bataan: A British firm manufacturing un-plasticized
polyvinyl chloride on Friday held its groundbreaking ceremony,
becoming the first locator at the 800-hectare Hermosa Ecozone
Development Corp.
Vigen Boyadjian, owner of Vignet UPVC Profile,
Inc., said Hermosa was the first place in the country he visited.
“I was planning to locate at any branch of the Philippine Economic
Zone Authority but when I learned that the Hermosa Ecozone is
operating, I decided to set shop here,” the British said.
The company is into the production of aluminum
and plastic sections leading to the manufacture of many products
like doors and windows. Its products are exported to Southeast Asia,
like Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand
and Fiji Islands.
Lee Gaza, Vignet general manager, said they are
building on a one-hectare land at the Hermosa ecozone a warehouse
worth P16.8 million.
Hermosa Mayor Efren Cruz Jr. said the British
firm was like a spark plug that ignites the coming in of more
investors in the area. The mayor said that another British company,
Asian Nickels, is interested in a 12-hectare land in the area. Its
first branch is located in Turkey.
Cruz said local officials have pledged their
full support for all projects of the Hermosa Ecozone Development
Corp. that is under PEZA. The ecozone has 800 hectares with 173
hectares slated for development, the mayor said.
