Ongoing until March 15 at The Metro Gallery is
an interesting art exhibit billed as ‘Contrasts’ featuring
abstract artists Jose Miguel Montinola and Van Tuico. The Manila
Times was there during the launch.
“My paintings are all about the many contrasts
going on in our lives. Oftentimes we know we have things to do but
realize later that we weren’t able to because of time constraints
and other reasons,” Tuico explains, adding, “My pieces are
inspired by the many procrastinations I have experienced. It’s
always been like that through the years and this show truly changed
it.”
High above the blues-field streets of Chicago, musicologist Charles
Norton sits alone in his apartment with only the company of his
greatest friend—his music. Meanwhile, next door, poet and
wordsmith Isabel Fox moves in after muddling through a painful
divorce.
A Good friend of mine, Pinggoy Mañosa, sent me a beautiful and
deeply moving e-mail which I feel I must share with you. It is the
farewell letter of the Noble Prize winner for literature, Gabriel
Garcia Marquez, who at the time of its writing, was dying of
terminal cancer. It was his way of saying goodbye to his friends.
