Asian University Basketball set July 5-12

ASIAN University Basketball Federation (AUBF) President Shin Dong Pa of Korea announced this weekend that the 6th Asian University Basketball Championship for Men will be held on July 5 to 12 in Cebu City.

The tournament, which will be hosted by the Basketball Association of the Philippines headed by Cong. Butch Pichay, will be participated in by Korea, China, Chinese-Taipei, Malaysia, Japan and five local teams.

Among the local teams are the top three finishers in the 62nd National Students Basketball Championships—Southwestern University, University of Visayas and University of San Carlos.

Also joining are University of Luzon, champion of the UCAAP in Region 1, and one special team to be invited by the BAP.

Sangmu Military College of Korea defeated Rizal Technological University to win last year’s edition held in Daet, Camarines Norte.

Expected to grace the tournament’s opening are AUBF Honorary Chairman Dr. Carl Menky Ching, AUBF Vice Presidents Dr. Ekodjatmiko Sukarso of Indonesia’s Ministry of National Education, Madam Liu Yumin of China Basketball Association, and Dr. Robert Milton Calo of the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP) and AUBF Board of Directors from Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Lebanon, and Chinese-Taipei.
