A son of Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, famed for his hardline stance
against crime, has been arrested for alleged drug dealing, a local
radio station reported Saturday.
Manny Santos Lim, 44, was arrested Friday along
with two others while allegedly trying to sell methamphetamine
hydrochloride, a banned drug popularly known as “ice” or “shabu,”
reported radio station dzMM said.
Mayor Lim, a former city police chief known as
the “Dirty Harry” of the Philippines for his ruthless crackdown
on crime, congratulated the anti-drugs task force for his son’s
arrest and said that no special favors should be extended to him,
dzMM also reported.
Mayor Lim said he had been out of touch with his
son for several months and knew he had some family problems, but was
not aware of his involvement in drugs, the radio station said.
