President Gloria Arroyo is scheduled to visit five Northern Luzon
provinces this Holy Week to bring the benefits of the country’s
growing economy to the grassroots level.
Leading her Serbisyo Caravan, the President is
visiting the poorest areas of Pangasinan, La Union, Abra, Benguet
and Nueva Vizcaya starting tomorrow, Holy Tuesday, until Monday next
week, to deliver social services such as dental and medical care.
She will also inspect or launch projects
designed to soften the impact of the slowdown of the global economy,
and the steep prices of oil in the world market and rice on the
poor.
After the first stop in Pangasinan, she will
proceed to Baguio City to attend the Philippine Military Academy’s
graduation exercises, where she will be the guest of honor.
On Holy Wednesday, the President will visit
Pilar, Abra and San Fernando, La Union on Holy Thursday; Benguet on
Black Saturday; and Nueva Vizcaya, next Monday.
On her way to Pangasinan today, the President
will lead the soft opening of the 93.77-kilometer Subic-Clark-Tarlac
Expressway. The expressway can be used free of charge for the entire
duration of the Holy Week.
The Serbisyo Caravan is a multi-agency program
to bring much-needed government services to the people with the
Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. as the overall coordinator.
