US Embassy has new appointment procedures for immigrant-visa applicants

The US Embassy has adopted a new scheduling procedure for K-visa applicants and the option to reschedule appointments for all other kinds of immigrant visas.

Adopted starting March 19, the new procedures seek to improve immigrant visa services and to make it easier for applicants to get an appointment at a convenient time of their choosing.

Applicants for K1, K2, K3 and K4 visas who have received notification from the Embassy that their case is ready to be scheduled for interview, must call a Visa Information Service operator to schedule an interview appointment at the US Embassy.

Applicants or their representatives must have the applicant’s Immigrant Case Number, found on the Embassy notification letter, when they call to schedule an appointment. Appointments may be made from the Philippines and the United States. With the new procedure, the applicant must call to make his or her appointment.

Applicants for all other kinds of immigrant visas may call the same number if they need to reschedule an appointment with the US Embassy if there is no medical examination pending.

When calling from the Philippines, the Philippines Visa Information Services number is 1-909-101-7878—it provides English- and Filipino-speaking services. The service is available to the public from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday.

A small fee will be charged for the use of the 909 service, $0.98 per minute.

When calling from the US, the United States Visa Information Service number is 1-888-877-9888. Operators speak English and Filipino. The fee is $18, payable using a Visa or MasterCard, and entitles the caller to three calls of any length.

A list of immigrant and fiancé(e) visa cases that have already been scheduled for an interview is available and regularly updated at http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3023.html.

Applicants may download the visa appointment packet and forms at http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3023.html. Applicants who need to reschedule their appointments must call at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule.
