REIGNING UAAP champion Far Eastern University (FEU) defeated
Philippine Christian University, 21-13, 21-19, on Thursday to rule
the Luzon elimination of the 2008 Nestea Beach Volleyball National
Circuit at the Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park in Kawit, Cavite.
“We learned our lesson after playing so
relaxed in the early rounds, so we played more aggressively today,
tried to limit our errors and stayed our focus,” said 21-year-old
Edjet Mabbayad, who teamed up with Jerry Mabutol to beat the tandem
of Jesther Tuante and Gabriel Usman.
Joining FEU and Adamson University in the
national finals slated April 24 to 26 on Boracay Island was
University of Perpetual Help-Dalta System, a 21-16, 21-17 winner
over College of St. Benilde.
Meanwhile, FEU and Adamson posted their third
straight wins to reach the women’s finals of this tournament
sponsored by Havaianas, Speedo, Mikasa, Penshoppe, Island Cove Hotel
and Leisure Park, Crystal Sand Beach Resort, Le Soleil de Boracay
Hotel, La Carmela de Boracay Resort Hotel, D’Mall, D’Boracay and
Hey! Jude Hotel Resort.
