Batang Pier seek 7th straight victory

HARBOUR Centre tries to notch a franchise-record seventh straight win when it goes up against Pharex Saturday in the PBL Lipovitan Amino Sports Cup at The Arena in San Juan.

With the sweet-shooting Jonathan Fernandez finally making his presence felt, the Batang Pier matched their franchise record of six straight wins they established in the previous conference via a masterful 88-69 win over rival Hapee Toopthpaste last Tuesday. They are the only unbeaten team in the tournament.

“We’ll just play our usual game and hope that one of them will provide the spark,” said coach Jorge Gallent, who is also preparing the team for the Seaba Club Championship slated next week. “Against Pharex, we’ll have to intensify our defensive effort.” Against Hapee, Fernandez sizzled for 22 points—his best effort this conference—on a brilliant 6-of-9 shooting from the 3-point zone.
