Vervisch tries to hold off
rivals in AF3 Grand Prix

 
FREDERIC VERVISCH hopes to wrap up the championship when the Castrol Philippine Asian Formula 3 Grand Prix unfolds this weekend at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

The Team Goddard driver holds a 50-point lead over Briton Matthew Howson of PTRS Racing.

With still four rounds left and 84 points up for grabs, Howson remains in the hunt for the coveted title.

The event is the final leg of the 2007-2008 Asian Formula Series.

Also seeing action in the racing finale are third-running Brazilian Rafael Suzuki of Team Goddard, privateer Don Tacos of the UK and Filipino Roland Hermoso of Speedtech Asia.

Making their first appearance in the series are Briton Ed Pead and Slovakian Leonardi Valois of Aran Racing and South African Peter Kalpakiotis of Team Goddard.

The first race is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday followed by the second race at 2 p.m.

On Sunday, the first race will take place at 11:30 a.m. and the final race at 2:30 p.m. Entrance to the grandstand is free of charge.
