Pinoy group honors LA mayor,
3 Fil-Am leaders

The Filipino-American Service Group Inc. (FASGI) honored Los Angeles City Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and three Fil-Am business and community leaders at a dinner program held at the Gene Autry Museum on March 13.

FASGI is a nonprofit neighborhood-based health and human care provider located in Los Angeles. Incorporated in 1981, it has grown into one of the leading independent providers of health and social services for low-income Filipino-American families in the Los Angeles county.

The group awarded Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as Leader of the Year. Filipino-American community leaders Vicente Ching was awarded Community Service Leader of the Year; Melvin Avanzado as Advocate Leader of the Year, and Josie Jones was given the American Dream award.

Mayor Villaraigosa also commended FASGI for the services it provides the Filipino-American community.
